The last two weeks have been awful.
Last Monday, I was sent home from work because I had a fever (big no-no around kiddles). I went to the doctor and found out I had strep. I had to miss work on Tuesday as well. I was mentally exhausted by the end of the week because report cards had been due the Friday before and we were prepping for parent teacher conferences most of the week. I had to be at work from 7:20 AM until 7:30 PM on Thursday, and then from 7:30 AM until 3:45 PM on Friday. By Friday, I was admittedly feeling better, and over the weekend I started to feel human again.
Monday was fine, except that I have two classes full of spazzes back-to-back. I dealt with them in my normal, sardonic way, which never really seems to help, but it makes me feel better. This morning, I woke up around 4:20. I just sat around for a while, reading stuff online and drinking coffee. I had a cigarette at 5:30, and then decided to shower.
I almost screamed when I pulled off my night shirt. All over my chest and back were red, angry welts. I do get hives occasionally, but usually really big fat ones that pop up in random places. My chest was almost solid red this morning. I took an antihistamine and finished getting ready for work. I figured I’d ask the school nurse what she thought when I got to the school. She guessed that it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I got last week. And then the vice principal sent me home.
I stopped by the doctor’s again. They told me to stop taking one of the antibiotics, gave me a cortisone shot and a prescription for prednisone.
Tl;DR I was sick, took medicine to make me better, which made me a different sick, so I’m about to take more medicine to make me better. Better living through chemistry.
